Cools well, but unacceptably loud

I purchased this Whirlpool directly from the manufacturer expecting a brand new, hassle-free appliance. While the cooling system works well, the acoustic design and factory assembly are terrible. Right out of the box, the unit produced a loud, persistent buzzing and vibration. I ultimately had to track down the rattle myself and use a shim just to silence it. A customer should never have to jerry-rig a brand new appliance just to stop it from vibrating, especially after paying extra for professional installation. Worse, even with the rattling resolved, the baseline normal operating noise of the compressor and fans is simply too loud.

Great Fridge

This replaced another refrigerator only 5 years old that couldn™€™t stay at constant temperature in the freezer as well as the refrigerator section. The old fridge cost $ 1,000 more and was larger but I decided to replace it with the Whirlpool fridge. The Whirlpool is dead on with constant temperature and it™€™s nice not to have to worry about whether my food will stay at the optimum temperature. The Whirlpool is smaller, and the ice maker mechanism takes up a lot of freezer space, but since it works great, and it is for one person, it™€™s perfect for my needs. A large family will need a larger unit. I should have bought a Whirlpool to begin with. All three of my brothers in law worked for Whirlpool in Marion Ohio.

I feel the design is more limiting than my old one and am disappointed that I can't adjust them so larger items don't have to be on one shelf. The refrigerator slides across the floor every time you pull on the doors to open. whirlpool sent a technician out who said it™€™s operating the way it should so we must push the refrigerator back every time we open it.. Also, the right door at the bottom sticks out further than the left door - looks cheap.

We bought this Refrigerator to replace a dying 2008 Kenmore side-by-side, and the difference is night and day! The Cooling performance is excellent and incredibly consistent. The Sealing on the doors is robust and tight, which is a massive relief compared to our old bended doors that leaked cold air.Inside, the layout offers fantastic Flexibility. The Shelving is sturdy and perfectly spaced, making it easy to organize groceries. Accessibility to both the fresh food and freezer compartments is well-designed; everything is within easy reach without having to dig around. As a huge bonus for anyone living in Puerto Rico, this modern fridge runs incredibly efficiently. It draws significantly less wattage than our old unit, which saves us money on our high electric bills and leaves way more backup power available on our Tesla Powerwall during power outages. It runs smoothly, quietly, and holds temperature perfectly. I highly recommend it!

They don't make them to last like they used to!

I had to buy a replacement (same make & model). The fridge started to fail after only 7 years of service. On the old one, the fresh food side temp would never go below 43° even with the freezer and fridge temps on the coldest settings. The new one is currently working properly with the fridge side temp staying at 37° to 39° with the freezer and fridge temps on the recommended settings. There are much more dependable and brands (Bosch being one of them) but the appliance dealer had this one in stock, so I decided to give Whirlpool one more chance. I could have had it checked by the appliance retailers technicians, but there is usually a 2-3 day wait for them to show up and then 2-3 weeks for them to get the parts in & get them installed. At any given time, I have around $20K of an incredibly expensive Rx that has to be refrigerated at at all times, so waiting on them wasn't an option.

Freezer reaches satisfactory temp at middle setting (0 F at 3 bar). However, refrigerator side stays around 42-48 F at middle-lower setting (4 bars) that should be around 34-37 F. Freezer space is smaller due to ice maker and box occupying top shelf.

Being alone hardly used but company always committed on how warm drinks were even when put overnight. Always purchased this brand till this really bad experience. Warranty was only a year so Whirlpool did nothing to help me.

I am not 100% satisfied because the fridge side door does not stay open at 90* position, it opens hard all the way if you open the door at 90* and let go. The water out of the freezer side dispenser is not as cold as it should, I expected to have a glass of cold water after a day of work and the water comes out room temperature. The crushed ice dispenser shots small pieces of ice wider than a glass' mouth, so I end up with ice on the floor.

People Should Be Fired!

We've had our refrigerator for several months. We like the appearance and the matte finish. The shelving and adjustable door bins are well conceived. Both sides maintain the desired temperature without needing adjustment. We appreciate the bottom-front location of the water filter, as this will make replacing it much easier than with the GE model we had previously. I have no idea what your designers were thinking (they probably weren't) when the water/ice dispenser was created. The functionality is so appalling that it is nearly inconceivable that the department has a supervisor. If not, hopefully this is because he was fired! And where was Quality Control? Did this go into production without a prototype? Did no one try using it? Good grief! The dispenser chute retains several cubes after the lever is released. Because the door at the bottom doesn't seal completely and is uninsulated over time, the undischarged cubes melt, forming a congealed blob that blocks the passage of new ice. Given the lack of insulation, warm air rising into the chute causes the blob to melt, and water then drains into the drip tray. The drip tray is only 1/4" deep, quickly overflows, and causes a puddle to form on the floor. The water spigot is positioned too far forward. This wouldn't be a problem except that after releasing the dispensing lever, it will usually drip two or three additional drops, which miss the tray and run down the door. If that wasn't enough, the tray is gloss black plastic. While attractive when water is kept far away, if it collects, drips, and isn't immediately dried, unsightly white calcium spots appear and are difficult to remove without scratching the finish. A removable tray would partially mitigate this problem, but that apparently was beyond the imaginative capacity of the design department. And if that wasn't enough, the ice maker should automatically shut itself off when the bin is full. It doesn't, requiring a manual shutdown. The on-off switch is so small and set so far back that my wife can't access it, and even I have a difficult time. A Boy Scout working on his Industrial Design merit badge could have done better than this. And for $1000.00+? Please...

A very nice refrigerator. My other whirlpool refrigerator lasted 23 years, so we hope we get the same out of this one. The water in the door, being in front of the Ice dispenser isn't the greatest layout, but would not stop be from purchasing. Same with the right hand door not level with the left. The bolt or whatever, will not turn to raise the door. Drives me nuts, but I'm OCD. And that door swings open hard. You have to catch it. All in all...a very nice refrigerator.

The refrigerator we replaced was a GE Profile. It lasted for 18 years. It was sturdy and well designed. We replaced it with the Frigidaire Model: wrs325sdhz. It is slightly smaller, which works for me, but does have issues. The drawers are sticking when pulled in and out. It took years for the ice maker to clog up in the old GE, but in less than six months this one is clogging, and we have to empty the ice maker. The design for the water and ice dispensers are set too far forward, so that both ice and water sometimes bounce out of the dispensers onto the floor. This is generally a poor design. The doors open smoothly and wide enough, but not so wide as to hit the counters on the sides. I hope you take my reviews seriously and design a better refrigerator.

It is a nice fridge for the price. We love a side by side with ice maker and water in the door. The lighting is great. It has a recirculating fan that runs almost all of the time, and shuts off temporarily when you open the door. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts. We did get an extended warranty so hopefully it will be covered if it should fail. The biggest complaint is that the opening for the ice maker/water dispenser is too small. We have Yeti 32 oz mugs and they don™€™t fit. Our old GE they fit very well. We end up spraying ice everywhere. Otherwise so far we have been happy with the fridge. We trust Whirlpool and hope that trust continues.

More space but bad layout

I've had This whirlpool refrigerator for three weeks now. The number one thing that I do not like Is The ice and water on the door. I normally use A 28 ounce yeti container. This cup needs to be At almost a 45° angle to access the ice. Many times the cup hits the water And water gets all over my floor. I feel this is a flaw in the design . Although the cubic feet of this unit is more than It's predecessors, There is no significant area to place the butter, slab of cream cheese, Or any of the small stuff That I would put on the door under the eggs. I find it very hard to organize The food With the layout of this Fridge and freezer.

The ice maker is a JOKE! The cubes are small, the capacity is low, and it is slow. It is fit for a toy. It is not like the one in the floor model. The salesperson assured me the one I received would be identical to the model.

Replacement Whirlpool

Our previous Whirlpool which was 21yr old finally called it quits. I troubleshot the most common issues and thought replacing the compressor replay could be an inexpensive fix. However, finally pulled the trigger on a new Whirlpool. Got one that was a little larger and within same footprint. It™€™s all we need, has and icemaker and water, works well and the storage shelves are evenly spaced which is much better than our previous obe. So far so good, it™€™s quiet and works perfectly. Would recommend if you need a replacement side by side fridge.

Ice feed problems

Shelves are not adjustable, ice feed jams and is hard to get the container in far enough to trip the feed switch. Ice feed is unpredictable, comes out in bunches or nothing for a few seconds also ice maker and storage takes up a significant amount of room in the freezer . Lighting is great. Temp control has too little variability 1 line on freezer is zero to 10 below zero.
